Heerenveen defeats Feyenoord again in KNVB Cup
By: Porter | January 21st, 2009
Heerenveen’s week of success continued with their second victory over Feyenoord in five days as they won 3-0 in the KNVB Cup. With a Trond Sollied using a stronger defensive approach, Heerenveen were able to control Feyenoord and opened the scoring with Viktor Elm netting the first of two goals at the thirty-eighth minute. Following the break, what advances Feyenoord may have had in the first half were snuffed out and at the seventy-third minute Roy Makaay’s one-two with Elm resulted in his second goal. With the two goal advantage the match looked effectively over and nine minutes later Roy Makaay put his name to the score-sheet off Arnor Smárason’s provision.
Following the match Swedish international Viktor Elm commented he wasn’t even satisfied with his performance, leaving us all excited of the balance of the year.
