Heerenveen stomps over Feyenoord 3-1

Trond Sollied’s Heerenveen started the second half of the year perfectly with a confident 3-1 victory over Feyenoord.
The match could not have started better as Kristian Bak Nielsen headed Roy Beerens cross into the net only four minutes after the start. Thoughts of Feyenoord wilting under-pressure quickly stopped and in a vote of confidence for Leon Vlemmings they pushed forward with Roy Makaay and Diego Biseswar threatening to level on a number separate occasions. Finally seven minutes before the break Feyenoord tied the match as Giovanni van Bronckhorst provided Roy Makaay the ball, which he fired a perfectly place shot past goalkeeper Brian Vandenbussche. However Heerenveen took the lead for good as Danijel Pranjić received a pass from Bonaventure Kalou on the counter and drove the ball into the net from inside the box. After the break, Feyenoord’s chances were limited to Luigi Bruins solo effort from distance before Heerenveen scored the third and final goal with nineteen minutes remaining as Arnór Smárason headed Michel Breuer’s cross in. Heerenveen continued to control the run of the play throughout the balance of match, with noteworthy performance by new arrival Viktor Elm and went on to secure a 3-1 victory.

Great news about Pranjić! I was expecting him to move this January, but I’ve heard so far there were no offers, I find that rather surprising.
